Google review cards for restaurants, bars and cafés
Diners decide where to eat by reading reviews, often standing on the sidewalk outside. Here is how restaurants use tap-to-review cards to turn a great meal into a Google review before the guest walks out the door.
Why reviews matter so much for restaurants
Few businesses are compared on Google as often as restaurants. A guest searching for dinner nearby sees your star rating and review count next to every competitor’s. Google says review count and score factor into local ranking, so more fresh reviews help you show up and help you get chosen.
The best moments to ask
- When a guest compliments a dish, a drink or their server.
- When the check is dropped, with the card clipped inside the bill folder.
- At the register for takeout and counter-service orders.
- When regulars are leaving. They are often your happiest guests and the easiest ask.
Where to put the cards
- 1Bill folders. The most natural spot: the guest is already looking down at the folder and holding their phone to pay.
- 2Servers’ aprons. One card per server, offered in person after a good interaction.
- 3Host stand and register. For guests on their way out and takeout pickups.
- 4Bar top. Bartenders can hand a card across with the last round or the tab.
A script servers can actually use
Keep it short and honest. For example: “Thanks so much for coming in tonight. If you enjoyed it, a Google review really helps us. Just tap your phone here.” Then hand the card over and step away. No pressure, no hovering.
Which pack fits
- A small café with one counter: the 10-pack covers the register with spares.
- A full-service restaurant: the 25-pack gives every server a card plus the host stand and register.
- A busy restaurant or a group with multiple rooms: the 50-pack covers tables, registers and a few spares.
- Restaurant groups and franchises: wholesale starts at 100 cards.
